Staying on Track During Christmas Season

Yes, silly season has officially arrived! It’s that time of year when we become conflicted between our want to stay healthy and maybe shed a little weight and over indulging in all things Christmas.

While I would 100% encourage you to embrace the festivities with all your might, I would also recommend taking on board these tips on staying on track during Christmas Season.

Plan everything
Chances are, you’re nights out are planned already for the festive period so make sure you are planning everything around them. Your workouts, your meals, your cheat/treat meals.

This way you will remain in control, and you won’t feel as though disaster has occurred if you do slip up a little.

Stay away from extra treats

We all have crappy days that lead us into cake shaped temptation, but as you will probably be heading for a little more over indulgence than usual with Christmas approaching it’s best to avoid giving into these temptation. Substitute your cravings with something much healthier such as Frozen Banana and 90% dark chocolate, strawberries and yogurt, hit the weights or go for a long brisk walk; just wrap up warm!

Don’t feel pressured

Friends don’t mean to put pressure on you but if they can’t understand your goals, they won’t understand your wish to be a little bit healthier on the odd night out. Don’t be afraid to order the healthier option on the menu or to have a booze free night out once in a while. At the end of the day it is you who will feel the effects of it and that’s all that matters.

Don’t sweat it

If you do over do it on the festive cocktails and the chocolate treats, don’t sweat it. Just spend a little bit of extra time working out and watch your food the rest of the time. It’s not a waste if you enjoyed it and one little over indulgence isn’t going to railroad you. Just keep your goal in sight and understand that if you are making a lifestyle change; that includes being able to happily much on a mince pie without feeling an ounce of shame or guilt.
