Tip:  Always get a patch test done if you’re going to a new salon for your waxing or if you’re new to waxing

“With regards to waxing the upper lip, I’ve now developed skin pigmentation in that area that now looks like permanent facial hair, I was never made aware until after that this is quiet common from waxing, is there anything I can do?”

Yes!  There are lots of “lightening” products on the market such as NeoStrata IRE Glycolic Peel and Shiseido Ireland do range of products to address this issue also.  Once you use any of these products make sure to use SPF50 on the area to avoid a re-occurrence.

“I have always shaved my legs but recently I am thinking of waxing them. Do you have any tips for me and especially care for after waxing.  Is there any cooling cream or gel I can use?”

“Bikini waxing, whats out there to slow down the growth for after you wax or lighten it, cheap and cheerful please”

You could bleach the regrowth to get extra time in between waxes – Jolene is one of the best and most price friendly on the market

Otherwise Decléor do a very good serum to help slow down the hair growth.   All the big cosmetic companies offer these products but in my experience Decleor is one of best.

“My husband gets ingrown hairs after shaving which turn in to terrible lumps – what do you suggest?”

He could try ÓGRA – Irish Peat Skincare masque to use once a week to help prevent this.  Also Waxperts have a product coming to market he could try, especially for this problem, and coming to Dolledup.ie very soon.

When should you wax before a occasion e.g. going to a wedding or holidays?

I suggest at least 4 days beforehand just in case or redness or reaction – gives your skin a chance to heal before you reveal

“Each time I wax or shave the bikini line it always turns into a spotty rash what do you suggest to do?”

  • 1.   use sensitive wax
  • 2.   avoid tight clothing after your wax
  • 3.   regular exfoliation is essential to avoid
  • 4.   if all this fails try the Skin Doctors ingrow go

“Has anyone tried laser on the upper lip?”

It’s quite expensive initially but works out cost effective versus regular waxing etc plus it’s very convenient to not have to worry about hair removal in such a noticeable area.  Be warned – it does sting a bit – a little like elastic bands on your skin!
